Why we're called Konshus

Konshus is a modern name for a timeless human idea: a private home for the memories, context, and inner world that make you who you are.

A new word, on purpose

We needed a word for a thing that didn't quite have one yet — the protected layer of context that makes you recognizable to an AI across models, accounts, and years.

Konshus is a coined name. It is not an ancient word and not a direct translation from any one language. It was chosen because people from many cultures can recognize something familiar in its sound: awareness, the inner self, protected knowledge, and home.

The sound of consciousness

To English and Spanish speakers, Konshus naturally sits beside conscious, consciousness, conscience, and consciente, consciencia, conocimiento. The family traces back through Latin to ideas of awareness and knowing — and knowing alongside another person.

That is close to what Konshus is built to support. An AI shouldn't only process the words in front of it. It should understand the person behind them: how they think, what they've lived through, what they care about, what they've already explained.

A protected container

In Sanskrit, kośa means a sheath, treasury, or repository — a container that holds something valuable. Some philosophical traditions describe koshas as the layers surrounding the deeper self.

Konshus is not derived from that word, but the idea resonates. A person is not only their current prompt. They are the accumulated pattern of everything that came before it — their experiences, relationships, decisions, preferences, losses, ambitions, and hopes.

Konshus is not a database of facts about you. It is a protected context layer around your life.

A home for what's yours

The ending of Konshus echoes hus or hús: house, home, dwelling, shelter. Across Northern European languages, this sound carries one simple, durable idea — a place that holds something safe.

That ended up central to the name. Your context should not be trapped inside one model, one account, one employer, or one generation of technology. It should have a home of its own. A place where it can remain intact while everything around it changes.
